On 9 and 10 of august I attended the military fair "WINGS and WHEELS" @ Ursel, Belgium. It's a 2 day event where you can see old and newer military vehicles, re-enactors and merchants with military stuff. http://www.wingsandwheels.be/ Together with some members of gameclub " De Witte Ridder" a wargame demonstration was given with the rules of Flames of War. The selfmade scenario was a refight of the battle for Hechtel-Eksel. The village is located near Leopoldsburg and was needed for the famous upcomming allied operation MARKET GARDEN. The battle for Hechtel-Eksel took place from 6 to 12 september 1944. Went to the neighbouring wargame club in Louvain for a gameday. Played one game with my 1500 points canadian rifle company from overlord against Louis Eloy (from the JEU ET MODELLISME ATH gaming club) using his panzer to the meuse Panther list. It was a close call but after 4 hours i won because of failing company morale. I already lost 3 from my 10 platoons so it was 4-3. Very close but also very entertaining and amusing. Any time a rematch Louis. Here are some images from the game and also some other people fought it out on the battletable. Enjoy. You can find some pictures of the O.D.I.T. event in the Battle Report section. Enjoy.
added pictures of my gaming bunker and mobile gaming table and also my collection of orange scenics houses made by Mario from Portugal.
Le Petite Bunker is a playfull reference to LE GRAND BUNKER in Normandy (see picture below). |
